Chillers Olaer Functioning

Where the precision of the fluids outlet temperature becomes significant (+/- 2K or less), and single heat exchangers are no longer sufficient, the installation of a complete cooling unit is required

Chillers functioningWHY USE A CHILLER ?

Opened Chiller

Where the regulation precision of the fluid temperature becomes significant (+/- 2°C or less)
Where the fluid temperature needed is lower than the ambiant temperature
Where the installation of air cooler is not possible
Where a closed loop cooling system is needed

Chillers functioningADVANTAGES :

Maintenance and operating costs reduced
Thermal stability of the machine improved
Yield and life cycle of the machine increased
Environmental solution : water savings (closed loop cooling), low environmental impact refrigerant gas (HFC : R134a, R410A, R407C)

Chillers functioningOPERATING

A cooling unit is composed of 2 circuits connected by a plate exchanger. The first closed loop circuit contains a refrigerant which is cooled according to a thermodynamic cycle (compression, condensation, expansion, evaporation). It is this fluid thus cooled that will absorb, through the plate exchanger, the heat of the “operating” fluid (water or oil) in the second circuit, before this fluid returns to the application in which it circulates.

Fluids to be cooled may be water (crude, deionised, demineralised, water/glycol), emulsions, brine, cutting fluids, oil...

The various types of components contained in a cooling unit (compressor, condenser, pump) are determined by the type of application and in particular the cooling capacity required. (1 to 300 kW in the standard version)
